Vehicle retrofit webinars to help prepare for Scotland’s Low Emission Zones

Heading Image

Low Emission Zones (LEZs), which set emission standards on certain road spaces, are expected to be introduced in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow by the end of May 2022.

The aim of LEZs is to improve air quality. Older, more polluting vehicles that do not meet the proposed minimum emission standards will face a penalty if they enter an LEZ. While certain exemptions will be made, it is important that people who use and travel to these areas frequently for work purposes are aware of the implications for their business.

The Energy Saving Trust is hosting free webinars to help businesses prepare for the LEZs, specifically those that use Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). These online sessions will give information about LEZs and about the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS). CVRAS addresses the air pollution emissions from buses, coaches, heavy goods vehicles, mini-buses, taxis and vans and can provide businesses with approved retrofit solutions, which will improve vehicles’ Euro emission standards to ensure they are LEZ compliant. The webinar will also give information about the LEZ Support Fund grants made available by the Scottish Government to help businesses meet LEZ entry standards.
