Local low emission zones
Low emission zones in development
Low emission zones to improve air quality are to be introduced across Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow between February 2022 and May 2022. Plans to implement LEZs were paused temporarily due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but work has now restarted.
This new indicative timeframe takes account of various steps which need to be taken by Scottish Government and local authorities prior to the introduction of LEZs.
£4.5 million was made available through the Public Transport Provision (PTP) Fund in 2019/20, to local authorities and regional transport partnerships in order to establish LEZ related projects in their areas. In addition, half a million pounds was provided to local authorities to progress their LEZ designs.
